Most guards do not stay long in their job due to the long hours and low pay. They deem the job to be of low status and they have little pride in their uniform and job function.
MERIT made a decision to venture into the guard business because of the many enquiries received for high quality and professional guards. Good selection criteria for the right candidate are important factors in our recruitment process. Once selected, the candidate goes through a training program on the various aspects of guarding and loss prevention. We ensure our guards are paid well and on time. Each guard assignment is different since the risk factors vary from customer to customer.
Before MERIT takes on a Guard Service assignment, a study is made on the risk faced by the Customer and come out with an action plan for the best solution to prevent potential losses. - To conduct physical security audit – 1 week at site (24 hours) to review activities and existing guards SOP.
- To inspect all electronic security systems – check location, adequacy, functionality and objective.
- To review current SOP and reports – suggestion for further improvements (after discussion with customer).
- To review security threat and propose counter-measures.
- To evaluate number of security guards required and their locations/areas of control or jurisdiction.
- To prepare format for daily, weekly and monthly reports (with consensus from customer).
- To plan takeover of security guard assignment – 15 days notice period for preparation.
